Things to do as a Family this Father's Day

We are now well into June and Father's Day is approaching. If you have little ones and want to do something as a family I have a list here of some events for mainly Toronto area or at least with 90 min from.

First off is the Sound of Music Festival in Burlington. It's a large music festival that lasts over a week running June 9 - 17. The free portion is now designated to June 14th - 17th. The Family Zone runs over the free weekend which is Father's Day weekend. Focusing on the Free weekend they have a Carnival for that time tickets are $1.75 and rides are 1-3 tickets. There is bulk prices too. There is a Street Festival of the festival which closes a long strip of Brant street right to Lakeshore. Over the weekend they have a family zone too which has games and activities. There is also a parade on the Saturday from 10am -1pm. We've been in the past and it has been a great experience. There is all sorts of varying musicians at different locations as you wonder around and explore different vendors or activities.

On the East side of Toronto the Beaches Rib Fest is running from June 15-17th. They have Ribbers BBQing ribs to purchase of course, Craft Beer Market, Wine & Spirits Area, Kids Zone, Life-Size Board Games, Backyard BBQ Games, Variety of Food & Beverage Vendors to name a few.

Back to the West again, Mississauga Waterfront Festival is happening from June 15-17th as well. This is a free festival held at Memorial Park in Port Credit area off the Lakeshore. There is tons of entertainment as well as live bands. There is tons of free activities and games for kids and there is a bit of carnival too I believe. Free activities include Kiddie Zooms, Rock Climbing Wall, Zoosemobile, Pottery, Face Painting, Kiddie Train Rides, Monkey Movers Gym Bus, Inflatables, Raptors 905 Activation, Cirques Works – Circus Activity Station, “Caprina” Goat Petting Farm

If your Dad or Daddy of the house is into trains there is the Father's Day Heritage Train Ride This Father’s Day treat your dad to a ride through the Oak Ridges Moraine on-board the York-Durham Heritage Railway. Don’t forget to check out our doors open baggage-car! Dads ride for ½ price when accompanied by a child. The train departs the Uxbridge Station at 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and from the Stouffville Station at noon.

If you are closer to the west side and into museum style of trains, more of the subway variety the Halton County Railway Museum is offering Dad's a free admission with a child's admission purchased on Father's day June 17th. You get to ride various trains to and fro to a pond area where you can make a stop at the ice cream shop.

Yorkville Exotic Car Show The Bloor-Yorkville area welcomes everyone to the 8th Annual Yorkville Exotic Car Show on Father’s Day, June 17, 2018 from 12 noon to 5 pm. This spectacular red-carpet event will take place on the “Mink Mile” section of Bloor Street, one of the most luxurious shopping streets in North America. Highlights of the show include the sleek and sophisticated 2018 Acura NSX, among other rare and exotic cars including the 2008 Bugatti Veyron, 2018 McLaren 720S and 2017 Dodge Viper ACR-E.

The Taste of Little Italy and CHIN picnic is an Italian style festival on College St. Enjoy live music on multiple street corners and on the main stage, extended patios, multicultural vendors, amazing food, carnival rides and new this year a learn-to-skate park where children can learn how to scooter and skateboard safely

Celebrate Father’s Day  June 17th with Dad at Mountsberg. Search for frogs and dragonflies, dip a net for pond critters, search for snakes and explore a swamp. Learn how to start a campfire and end the morning with a hot dog roast. Pre-Regsitration required. The fees are $18 for adult and $13 child/senior. I'm guessing that it includes admission to the park but are not sure and not sure of member rate.

At Springridge Farm they are having a Food Truck Festival. I believe the admission is free but if you have the kids at hand your probably going to have to visit the farm yard and regular admission applies there which is $7 a person.

Hope you find something great to do and to all the Dad's out there Happy Father's Day.
