Things To Do On March Break in the GTA and Ways to Save Doing Them

For me when I know think of March Break I think Maple Syrup Festivals. It's been a yearly tradition since the kids were born to visit at least one Conservation Area having a Syrup Festival. For me, the Halton Parks are closest and are great when you have the pass like we do but we've also ventured out to explore other festivals to shake it up a bit. There are festivals all over GTA whether you're in the East, West or North of the Six.

Maple Syrup Festivals

Maple Town at Mountsberg

During the Maple Syrup Festival times at Mountsberg, Maple Town comes to life, it is where there will be demonstrations on how Maple Syrup is made and the different stages to making it. There is even free samples and activities during festival. You can also purchase a pancake breakfast with some Maple Syrup. Wagon rides are available for extra fee. Any time of the year, you always get to enjoy the regular activities like the play barn, animal barn and birds of prey exhibits and shows. The Maple Town portion of activities only runs during March Break and weekends starting Mar 2 until April 7th from 10am-4pm and is free with admission.

I have more detailed information on the blog from last year at Mountsberg's Maple Syrup Festival.

Sweet Water Season at Crawford

At Crawford Lake Conservation Area they have their yearly Sweet Water demonstrations at their Iroquoian Village. They even have a sampling opportunity. You can also enjoy maple taffy for a fee (so yummy) and for the kids there is a free maple themed discovery hunt that when completed they will receive a small prize. Again this festival runs March Break and Weekends from March 2 until April 7th 10am-4pm and is included with admission into the park.

Deal Alert!

Did you know that you can save your receipt at either of the two parks above and visit the other free same day! Or if you live in the area, you may want to consider getting a Family Membership for the year and get outside more. You can then visit as often as you like to the 7 parks included with the membership!

Bronte Creek Maple Syrup Festival

At Bronte Creek Provincial Park in  Oakville the have their festival running through March Break and weekends in March. The hours are 9:30am-3pm and is included in the admission ($17 per vehicle). You can visit the Victorian Farmhouse where there is Maple Syrup Demonstrations in and around that area. You can purchase pancake breakfasts with their Maple sausages. There is also mention of other activities plus their play barn and animals that they have there too.

These are the few locations we frequently visit and I could go on and on, however there is some great links with plenty of detail for the many others all over the Toronto Area and the rest of Ontario. If you want to make a day of it you may want to venture a bit out of town and visit one of the many Festivals this year!
